Creating your personal account in ClinicalKey

Personal accounts are required to download PDFs of book chapters from ClinicalKey. As an Elsevier product, you only need to create an account with ClinicalKey if you haven’t already done so with one of their other databases including ScienceDirect, Embase, or Mendelay. If you already have an account with another Elsevier product, use those same credentials to log in to ClinicalKey. 

Follow these steps to create a ClinicalKey account.

  1. Click on the ClinicalKey link above to access the database and authenticate as a KUMC affiliate.
  2. Click on Register in the top right corner of the screen and fill in the required information, agree to the terms of service, and click Register.Register at ClinicalKey
  3. You will receive an email from Elsevier to confirm your account setup. Follow the directions in this email to log in to your account.
  4. Subsequently, use the Login link in the top right corner of ClinicalKey.

Establishing Remote Access for Mobile App

Clinical Key allows users to register accounts for off-campus access. After completing this process, you will be able to view ClinicalKey content on your computer or mobile device via the ClinicalKey app anytime you are logged in to your personal account.

  1. Navigate to https://www.clinicalkey.com/#!/.
  2. Click the Login link in the top right corner to access your account.
  3. In the menu under your account profile, click "Remote Access"Request Remote Access
  4. Enter your KUMC institutional email when prompted.

  1. Follow directions to click activation link in the email you receive from ClinicalKey to verify email.Confirmation of email with ClinicalKey
  2. After logging in you should now see "IP Access" under your name in the Personal Account menu.IP Access in ClinicalKey
  3. You can now install the CinicalKey app on your phone or tablet and log in with your ClinicalKey account to view content even when not on campus.

Saving content in ClinicalKey

  1. Click on the ClinicalKey link at the top of this page to access the database and authenticate as a KUMC affiliate.
  2. Click the Login link in the top right corner to access your account.
  3. Search or browse for book chapters or journal articles. Note that you can only save individual chapters and not whole books.
  4. Viewing the chapter, select the star icon in the top right corner to save the content to your account.Saving Content in Clinical Key
