Basic Information About Umbrella Reviews

Umbrella reviews are used to compile, synthesize, and assess the quality of systematic reviews. In essence, a "review of reviews." This is helpful when many systematic reviews exist around a particular topic or question, especially as when some may provide contradictory information.

Because umbrella reviews are reviews of already existing literature identified and synthesized through a rigorous process they may be regarded as one of the highest levels of evidence.
