Creating your personal account in EBSCO / CINAHL

Creating an EBSCO account is the same for all their databases. You only need to create one account to save searches in CINAHL, APA PsycInfo, SPORTDiscus, or any of the other EBSCO databases we subscribe to.

Follow these steps to set up an EBSCO account:

  1. Click on the CINAHL Complete link to access the database and authenticate using your KUMC credentials.
  1. Click on the MyEBSCO link at the top right of the screen to create a personal account.   CINAHL's homepage with a link to create or log into a personal account.   
     
  2. Click Create an account.
  3. Complete the account registration form, filling in the required information. 

Do not use your KUMC password as your MyEBSCO password.

  1. A screen will display that your account has been created. Click the Sign in button. 
  2. Sign in with your MyEBSCO credentials.
  3. Once signed in you can access your personal account settings in the MyEBSCO link.

Saving searches in EBSCO / CINAHL

  1. Click on the CINAHL Complete link or visit another one of our subscribed EBSCO databases.
  2. Click the MyEBSCO link and login to your personal account.
  3. Create your desired search.
  4. From the search results screen, click the vertical ellipses to open a dropdown menu. This will give you the option to save this search or create an alert to email you new results of this search.  
  5. To save a search, click the Save search link.

  1. You will then be prompted to name the search and give it an optional description. 
  2. Click the Save button.
  3. To create an alert, click the Create alert link.
  4. You will then be prompted to name the alert, give it an optional description, select the frequency of the alerts, choose your preferred Alert creation notifications, and enter your email address.
  5. Click Create alert.

  1. To view your saved searches in the future, click the Saved link.
  2. Click Searches. All of your saved searches will display.

  1. To view and edit your saved search alerts, click Alerts.
  2. Click Search Alerts.
  3. Click the vertical ellipsis to show a dropdown menu.
  4. Click Edit alert.
  5. From here, you can change the notification frequency and extend or renew your alert.
  6. To delete an alert, from the Search alerts screen, click the vertical ellipsis, and click Delete. Edit or delete saved search alerts in CINAHL.
