Overview of the ORCID and SciENcv author profile platforms and best practices for creating biosketches in each.

ORCID / SciENcv FAQs

Is it ORCID or ORCID iD?

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor Identification) styles itself as both depending on the reference to the platform itself or to the ID. This guide references either as ORCID.

Do I have to use ORCID to log into myNCBI?

No, you may use any third-party (or KUMC CAS) credential to log into myNCBI, and you may register multiple logins with your myNCBI account. This guide recommends ORCID to be at least one of your myNCBI credentials because of its utility with other related research platforms.

Can Dykes Library help with registering an ORCID or myNCBI account.

Yes, though librarians will by and large be referencing publicly available documents for guidance. For persistent problems with creating or logging into accounts it's recommended that users reach out to either ORCID or the NLM helpdesk for support.

Can Dykes Library help with NSF compliance issues related to SciENcv biosketches

The library does not advise on NSF compliance issues. It's recommended you contact the SAP directly.
