Qualitative Research

Qualitative research is an umbrella term for a variety of approaches of inquiry. There is wide variation in approaches to doing qualitative research but there are aspects of qualitative research that are common across approaches.

For example, qualitative research is interpretive in that it focuses on understanding how people make sense of their experiences. Most approaches to qualitative research seek to understand or explore the behaviors, perspectives and experiences of individuals,  groups and cultures.
