University licensing of EndNote software through Dykes Library does not include University of Kansas Health System employees unless they have dual appointments.

EndNote for UKHS employees

Call Hospital IT at 913-945-9999 and Press 1, or submit a ticket to UKHS MyIT service

Dually employed (Hospital and University) persons can install EndNote through University license on their university computers and personal computers as well. Follow installation instructions 

Close all Microsoft products, especially MS Word that is running on your computer before you start downloading

  For your personal computers:

1. Download EndNote for your personal computers from MyKUMC software page
2. Authenticate with your KUMC username and password in the myKUMC software page  
3. Scroll down to see EndNote 2025
4. Select the EndNote for your computer i.e MacOS vs. Windows

    Windows:

Important : The Endnote download for Windows is a Zipped or compressed file. After downloading, you must extract  the file by right clicking. 

1. EndNote Endnote2025.zip folder file will download
2. Right click and select Extract All
3. The files will be extracted to a selected folder such as your desktop or documents.
4. Double click the file named EN2025inst.msi to start installation.
5. Click next and follow the prompts to EndNote setup
6. Agree licensing prompts to Finish installation.

    MacOS:

1. EndNote2025 Installer.dmg file will download
2. Click save (on your desktop or documents)
3. Open Install EndNote2025 App from the prompt. You can also drag and drop the dmg file to the  Applications folder to install.
4. Agree licensing terms and follow the prompts to complete installation.

  For University supplied computers:

•  Windows: use Software Center. Follow instructions
•  Mac: use Self Services : Follow instructions 

Is EndNote X20 or X21 still running on your computer?

It is suggested that you uninstall any previous versions before or after installing EndNote 21. It is a good idea to backup your EndNote library by creating a compressed file.

Windows:

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Windows XP: Click on Add/Remove Programs.
3. Windows Vista/7/8/10/11: Click on Programs > Programs and Features. 
4. Choose "EndNote XX” (where XX is the version) from the list and click on Uninstall.

Mac:

1. Open the EndNote program.
2. Click on the EndNote menu and select the Customizer.
3. Click the Uninstall option at the bottom of this menu. When this is complete, it will remove all external components.
4. Click Quit.
5. Drag the EndNote folder from the Applications folder to the Trash.
6. Empty the Trash.

Uninstalling the previous versions of EndNote may not effect your EndNote library. You can also make a backup copy of your current EndNote library using the following commands.

• File > Compressed Library for libraries smaller than 5GB
• File > Save a Copy for larger libraries
