EndNote 21 essential information

Adding Specific Journal Styles

Individual styles can be downloaded from EndNote website's Output Style Finder Page 

  1. Search and Download the style from Output Style Finder Page 
  2. Double-click the style file.  It should open in EndNote
  3. On the open style, go to “File Menu” and choose “Save As”.  Replace the word “copy” with your style’s name and click “Save”.
  4. Click on “File Menu” and choose “Close Style”
  5.  Go back to your EndNote Library and go to "select another style". Choose it from the list

Removing Duplicates

To remove duplicates:
  1.  Open EndNote library and click All References.
  2.  From the Library menu, choose Find Duplicates.

EndNote will display a Find Duplicates dialog, where you can compare duplicates and decide which version to keep and which to delete. You can also right-click on any highlighted reference and select Move references to trash. All of the highlighted references will be transferred to the Trash folder.

Capture Reference is a browser bookmarklet that can be used to capture online references from webpages, into EndNote online or EndNote Desktop.


How to Install Capture Reference

To Install the Capture Reference bookmarklet:

1.    Log into EndNote Online.
2.    Click on Downloads.
3.    Drag the Capture Reference button to your Bookmarks bar (also known as "Favorites Bar" or "Bookmarks Toolbar"). In some browsers, you may need to right-click and select "Add to Favorites" or "Bookmark This Link."

Capture Reference is a browser bookmarklet that can be used to capture online references from webpages, into EndNote™ online or EndNote Desktop. Capture Reference scans the bibliographic information presented on a Web page and creates a reference for you to save to a new or existing group.
