What is RxNorm?

RxNorm provides linkage to many of the drug vocabularies commonly used in pharmacy management and drug interaction software.  This facilitates exchange of information between systems not using the same software and vocabulary.  RxNorm was built with the support of several federal agencies including the U.S. National Library of Medicine, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.  Additional information can be found U.S. National Library of Medicine website on RxNorm.
