Download & Install EndNote 20 - MacOS

Close all Microsoft products, especially MS Word that is running on your computer before you start downloading

  For your personal computers:

  1. Download EndNote for your personal computers from MyKUMC Software page
  2. Authenticate with your KUMC username and password in the myKUMC software page
  3. Scroll down to see EndNote 20 in the list
  4. Select the EndNote for your MacOS
  5. EndNote X 20 Installer.dmg file will download
  6. Click save (on your desktop or documents)
  7. Open Install EndNote X20 App from the prompt. You can also drag and drop the dmg file to the  Applications folder to install.
  8. Agree licensing terms and follow the prompts to complete installation.

You may Uninstall the previous versions of EndNote that is running in your computer in-order to save space and better organize

Create EndNote Library

After completing EndNote installation, you will have the following options:

  1. Create a New Library - for creating a new library of references. The default name is My EndNote Library, you can change the name appropriately.
  2. You can also create New Library using the following steps:
    • Go to File and choose New
    • Name the Library and Save it on your desktop
  3. Open Library - for choosing a library that is already created. You can also open an existing library using the following steps
    • Go to File menu
    • Select Open Library and then choose the Library that is saved on your computer.
  4. Open Shared library - for opening a library that is shared with your colleagues
  5. Open Recent - for opening the most recent library that you opened/worked.                                           
Important: Never save an EndNote library in a Cloud based storage such as iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive etc. This will corrupt your library because of the way the cloud storage syncs with internet. We suggest you save your EndNote library on your local hard drive.
